The Emporium x VNVC

In the spirit of the National Unity Festival, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, when the country is increasingly prosperous and people live happier, healthier lives with better care, VNVC has, for more than 8 years, been proud to contribute to realizing the dream of vaccine equity for all Vietnamese – so that every citizen can be protected, live healthily, and enjoy a happier life.

The shortage of private vaccines more than 8 years ago
Before 2017, Vietnamese people had access mainly to around 10 basic vaccines for children through the National Expanded Immunization Program. The private vaccine market was still underdeveloped, with small-scale facilities, outdated equipment, and constant shortages leading to price instability. Parents often queued overnight at a few vaccination centers just to secure limited vaccine slots – a memory many still recall vividly. Some well-off families had to take their children abroad for vaccinations at very high costs.

The root cause was not only the overwhelming global demand for vaccines that sometimes exceeded the production capacity of manufacturers, but also the lack of proper investment in Vietnam’s private vaccination sector. This made the country less of a priority market for international pharmaceutical firms. Orders from the US, France, Belgium, etc., had to be placed years in advance with large prepayments, leaving little supply available for emerging markets. Domestically, there was no large, capable vaccination system to negotiate bulk imports or manage large-scale, safe, and reliable vaccination programs.

Public awareness of vaccination was also limited. Many people doubted or misunderstood vaccines. Adult vaccination was nearly nonexistent, making disease prevention for children, adults, and the elderly extremely challenging, with recurring outbreaks each year.

VNVC – ending the vaccine shortage in Vietnam
VNVC partnered with leading global pharmaceutical companies to bring nearly 20 new and next-generation vaccines to Vietnam, putting an end to the shortage of private vaccines.

VNVC was also the first in Vietnam to sign a historic contract to purchase 30 million doses of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine, later handing them over to the Government at no profit.

The birth of VNVC – a turning point for Vietnam’s vaccination sector
In June 2017, VNVC opened its first center in Hanoi, launching a modern, fair, humanitarian, and professional vaccination model. It gradually solved the shortage issue, giving children and adults nationwide access to high-quality vaccines, safe services, professional procedures, and reasonable prices.

After nearly 10 years, VNVC has become a game-changer in the industry. Within just 8 years, VNVC expanded to almost 240 modern vaccination centers nationwide, with more than 2,000 clinics and injection rooms, hundreds of international-standard vaccine storage facilities, and millions of safe vaccinations delivered. This effort helped raise child immunization coverage to consistently high levels and, for the first time, brought adult vaccination rates in Vietnam to record levels.

To achieve this, VNVC became the first and only vaccination system in Vietnam to establish comprehensive strategic partnerships with major global pharmaceutical and vaccine companies such as GSK (Belgium), Sanofi (France), Pfizer (USA), MSD (USA), AstraZeneca (UK), Takeda (Japan), Abbott (Netherlands), and Substipharm (Switzerland). Dozens of new-generation vaccines – once reserved for developed nations – were introduced into Vietnam.

Just a few years after VNVC entered the market, vaccines that were once scarce, such as the 6-in-1, pneumococcal, rotavirus, and rabies vaccines, became widely available at affordable costs. Nearly 20 new vaccines – including pneumococcal 13, 15, 20, 23; meningococcal B; meningococcal ACYW-TT; dengue fever; and shingles – were introduced and administered to tens of millions of children and adults.

VNVC during the COVID-19 pandemic
In late 2020, when no COVID-19 vaccine was available globally, VNVC made a bold move by co-investing with AstraZeneca in vaccine development. This early investment secured 30 million doses for Vietnam, making it one of the first Asian countries to roll out high-quality COVID-19 vaccination, contributing significantly to the nation’s pandemic response.

Strategic investment for long-term impact
From the outset, VNVC focused on building a sustainable system with three key pillars:

A world-class cold chain for vaccine storage and transport, fully GSP-certified and monitored in real time with multiple power backups.

A highly trained workforce of nearly 11,000 professionals, including thousands of doctors and nurses certified in vaccination safety.

Strong public health communication campaigns to raise community awareness about immunization.

Unlike many facilities that still relied on domestic refrigerators or simple coolers, VNVC invested in modern storage warehouses across three regions, refrigerated transport vehicles, and specialized vaccine cabinets in every injection room – ensuring consistent quality from manufacturer to recipient.

VNVC also operates a nationwide call center from 7 AM to midnight, providing consultation and support, thereby strengthening public trust and improving vaccination rates.

Setting new standards in Vietnam’s vaccination services
VNVC’s nearly 240 centers (as of August 2025) are modern, professionally designed, and equipped with full functional areas: examination rooms, injection rooms, post-vaccination monitoring rooms, play areas for children, baby care spaces, and breastfeeding rooms – ensuring a safe, friendly experience for families.

Commitment to social responsibility
VNVC pioneered price stabilization policies and long-term support programs such as “vaccinate first, pay later,” installment payments, and free vaccine reservations – making preventive healthcare more accessible.

VNVC also runs major community campaigns, such as “A Year of Action for Vaccine Protection,” thousands of health workshops for pregnant women and the elderly, and creative contests like “Draw a Vaccination Hero” – all aimed at raising awareness and boosting immunization rates.

VNVC has donated millions of free vaccine doses (influenza, tetanus, tuberculosis, hepatitis B) to children and adults, organized free vaccination programs for veterans, police, underprivileged children, and the elderly, and supported various charities, education funds, flood victims, and infrastructure projects.

With these contributions, VNVC has significantly increased adult vaccination rates. For example, adult flu vaccination in Vietnam rose from 4% (2021) to over 10% (2024), with nearly 50% of VNVC clients being adults in 2024 – an unprecedented milestone.

Recognition and awards
For its achievements, VNVC has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister for outstanding contributions to epidemic prevention. It has also been consistently recognized among Vietnam’s most reputable pharmaceutical companies, Top 10 Famous Brands, No. 1 Brand for Best Products & Services for Consumers, Top 10 Green & Sustainable Enterprises 2024, and Best Workplace in Asia-Pacific 2024.

In 2025, VNVC was honored at the “Vietnam Glory” program and named “Best Vaccination Center System in Vietnam” and “Most Trusted & High-Quality Brand 2025” at the “Vietnam’s Best Brands, Products, and Services” awards.
